6 Slices bacon, diced
1 pound medium shrimp, peeled
2 cups sliced mushrooms
1 cups sliced green onions
1 large clove garlic, pressed
3 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
Dash hot red pepper sauce
2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley
Salt, freshly ground pepper to taste
1 recipe hot cheese grits, see basic grits recipe
Cayenne pepper

Directions
- Fry bacon in large skillet until browned at edges but not too crisp. Drain on paper towels and set aside. Leave fat in skillet.
- Return skillet to medium-high heat. When it is hot, add shrimp and cook until they begin to color. Add mushrooms and cook until they begin to soften, about 4 minutes. Sprinkle with green onions, bacon and garlic. Season with lemon juice, red pepper sauce, parsley, salt and pepper.
- Stir cayenne pepper to taste into the grits.
