Ingredients

Cookies:

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon cream of tartar

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 2/3 cups flour

Topping:

2 tablespoons sugar

2 teaspoons cinnamon

Preparation

Dough:

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Farenheit. Mix softened butter and sugar in a large bowl and mix with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes, until smoothly combined. Add egg and vanilla in same bowl, mixing until incorporated. In separate bowl, add cream of tartar and salt and mix with fork. Add flower mixture slowly to butter mixture until smooth.

Cookies:

Combine the 2 tablespoons sugar with the cinnamon in a small bowl. Drop a spoonful of dough into the cinnamon sugar mixture and roll until coated. Place the dough on an ungreased baking sheet. Continue rolling each cookie, placing them 2 inches apart on the sheet - bake 8-10 minutes or until the edges begin to brown.
