Ingredients

Rohu (freshwater fish found in Bengal, India) - 8 pieces

Mustard Oil to fry the fish

Mustard seeds - 2 tbsp

Green Chillies - 6 - 8

Garlic - 5-6 pods

Tomatoes - 1 medium

Turmeric (Haldi)- 1/2 tps

Salt to taste

Preparation

Marination time - 15 min Preparation Time - 15 min Frying the fish - 30 min Total Time - 45 min

Marinate the fish for 15 min with turmeric and salt. Shallow fry the fish till slightly brown in mustard oil. Soak the mustard seeds in water for 15 min. Make a paste of mustard seeds, garlic, green chillies (4-6). In the same pan where the fish has been fried, drain out excess oil and put in the mustard paste and the remaining green chilies (slit horizontally), add water. Chop tomato into 4 pieces and add. Let it simmer for sometime and then add salt to taste.
